The season of giving is upon us, and local families with sick children need your support via the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas (RMHC-CTX). Please join us in raising $1,000 to support their “Lights of Love” event scheduled for December 2nd at the Mueller Hangar.

The event is open to all, and will feature family fun activities including a snow slide (with real snow!) for children and adults, a visit with Santa, holiday caroling, gingerbread house decorating, kids’ crafts, hot chocolate, cake, music and a one mile walk around the Mueller Lake adorned with twinkling holiday lights. It’s sure to be an evening full of fun holiday traditions, and help area families with sick children. Tickets are $25 for adults (ages 13+) and $15 for children (ages 3-12). About Ronald McDonald House Charities

RMHC CTX supports families with critically ill or injured children by providing them with support programs and a “home-away-from-home” to stay close to their hospitalized children. Their four programs include:

  1. Providing lodging at the Ronald McDonald House near Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin
  2. Providing “Family Rooms” in five area hospitals where families can rest and recuperate not far from their child.
  3. The Happy Wheels Carts stroll five area hospital hallways bringing complimentary items to families waiting by their child’s bedside.
  4. And the Healing Hearts program, which supports families who have lost a child through burial assistance and bereavement

These programs provide much needed support and save families thousands of dollars in lodging and food expenses alone with some families needing 100+ days of lodging.
